Our “Portes-Unique-Doors” murals are made of pre-pasted wallpaper and are very easy to install. You just have to soak them in water to activate the glue. Your order will arrive pre-cut and ready to be applied to the door. All you have to do is give us the width and height of your door/s and we will make the necessary adjustments for an easy installation.
**When you place your order, please enter the exact dimension/s of your door/s in the “Order notes” section. The general price of $215 applies for doors that are sized between 28″ and 48″ in width and between 70″ and 84″ in height. Please contact us for a price for a different size.
What tools do you need?
- A plastic water tray, or a bathtub, or a sponge soaked in water
- A fine exacto with breakable blades, to cut the hole(s) in the door handle or latch
- A wallpaper smoother with sponge
- A metal ruler (if you have any unplanned cutting to do)
- A wet cloth
- Two old towels or a tarpaulin to absorb water residue. To put under the water tray and under the door.
How to install?
Step 1: We suggest that you clean the door thoroughly with alcohol to remove any residue or finger marks before installation. It is also easier to install if the the door handle and latch are removed. **Optional: The addition of Roman Pro-999 primer is strongly recommended before installing your mural (although not absolutely necessary). This primer will make installation easier and ensure greater adhesion. It is odorless and will be dry after one hour following application.
Step 2: Dip the entire panel in the water tray or bathtub for 20 seconds, with the printed side facing the interior. Then slowly and gently remove the panel from the water to apply it on the door. If you have a sponge, make sure you soak the entire panel with water.
Step 3: Apply the panel to the door, leaving 1/8” of clearance all around the door.
Step 4: Use the smoother to remove large bubbles. It is normal that you have some small bubbles or small wrinkles after installation. The paper is composed of 85% pulp from natural wood. When the wood pulp is hydrated, the paper expands 2% in width only. On the other hand, when drying, the paper will shrink by 1% to remove any small bubbles or wrinkles after 12 hours of drying.
Step 5: Make the hole in the door handle with the knife and reinstall the door handle.
